Celebrity Eclipse is a Celebrity Cruises vessel that measures 122 000 gross tonnes and carries 2 852 passengers at double occupancy, plus crew. She is the third Solstice-class cruise ship with two sister ships, the Celebrity Solstice and the Celebrity Equinox. A fourth ship in this class, the Celebrity Silhouette, entered service in 2011. The ship's godmother is yachtswoman Emma Pontin.

Solstice-class ships is a particular favourite with eco-enthusiasts as they are designed to save energy. They are equipped with an optimized hull design, a photovoltaic system, highly efficient hull coatings and lighting system using light emitting diodes and are said to use only 70% of the energy consumed by other ships of their size and kind.
